David founded the Veterans Community Alliance in 2007 as a way to stay connected to his military roots and give back to the veterans and community. David is a veteran and started his career in the United States Marine Corps in July of 1988. During his eleven years as a US Marine, David served in many different areas. His primary role was in the area of computer graphics, where he was recognized for his outstanding achievements with the Navy Comendation Medal. From 1990 to 1991, he had the honor and privilege of serving under Major General Livingston, Medal of Honor recipient, as his driver and enlisted aide. From 1992 to 1994, David worked with the Marforpac G-3 in their command center. During this tour, he made two trips to Korea to participate in Operation Ulchi Focus Lens, of which he was recognized with the Navy Achievement Medal. David’s final years were spent as a Drill Instructor in Parris Island “making Marines”. David is currently a Senior Vice President for Marketing at Merrill Lynch/Bank of America.

Charlie Decker is a lifelong resident of New Jersey and a founding board member of the VCA. As the child of a WWII Army Air Corps. veteran, he was raised with an acute sense of the critical part our military plays in the daily fabric of American life. He attended the University of Denver Daniels College of Business, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in marketing in 1981. Since that time he has spent his career in the seafood industry as an importer of shrimp and other seafood commodities – developing business relationships with some of the nation’s largest food distributors, retailers and restaurant chains. His business travels have also brought him to parts of the third world where the sentiments run the gamut from anti-American fundamentalism to enthusiastic support of the American military, and he has gained a perspective through his international supply relationships of how & why these sentiments exist. He lives in Freehold with his wife Janet, his daughter Jilyan and his son Alex.

Shawn is a lifelong resident of New Jersey. He attended theKeanUniversity, and graduated with a bachelor of science in Engineering. He worked for 10+ years in the semi-conductor industry. In 2004, he switched industries and joined an international environmental equipment manufacturer based out of theNetherlands. He currently holds the position of Director of Operations and Engineering for their U.S subsidiary based inNew Jersey. He works closely with many military installations around the world throughout his professional career. Working with physics and material science labs on technology development, to most recently offering solutions that make our military personnel work space a cleaner and healthy environment. Shawn lives in Freehold with his wife Maureen and daughters Shannon and Caitlin.

Bill Gorman is also a founding board member of the Veterans Community Alliance and a resident of Monmouth County since childhood. He attended Saint John Vianney H.S. and has a bachelor of science in Business Management from Saint Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J. He has worked in New York City for the past 26 years in the field of Information Technology for Wall
Street Investment firms. His career has taken him to foreign countries and he has witnessed the 1993 and 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. As the son of a United States Navy veteran who served during the Korean War, he was brought up with a poignant interpretation of our military and their roles that have provided freedom to all Americans. Bill has been, and currently is, a dedicated volunteer to many social, religious, sports, and community organizations.
David M. Salkin

David Salkin is a life-long resident of Freehold Township and has been involved in his community all of his adult life. Currently serving as the Mayor Freehold Township, he has been an elected official for sixteen years, serving on the Township Committee. In that time, Dave has served as Mayor three times and Deputy Mayor four times. He has also served on the Shade Tree Commission, the Historic Preservation Commission, Planning Board and Chaired the Open Space Master Plan Committee. Dave is a charter member of the Sunrise Optimist Club and an associate member of the Marine Corps League, Philip A. Reynolds Detachment. Dave is a Master Graduate Gemologist and co-owner of Salkin’s Jewel Case, as well as a published author. (Crescent Fire, Necessary Extremes and The MOP) Dave has worked to support veterans groups in various capacities and has been with the VCA since its inception.
Anthony J. Ammiano

Anthony J. Ammiano has served on the Township Committee since 2001, and served as Mayor in 2006 and 2009. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2003. He has served on the Planning Board since 2000 and has resided in Freehold Township since 1996.
Ammiano serves as Chairman of the Finance & Administration and Vice Chairman of the Community Services & Activities Subcommittee. He is currently a member of the Board of Health and liaison to the Parks & Recreation Commission.
He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Newark AIDS Consortium, Inc. since June 1995 and has served on the Newark Housing Authority Scholarship Foundation since April 1989 and currently serves as Chairman. Ammiano has been active in the following organizations: Housing Authority of the City of Newark, Board of Commissions (Chairman and Vice Chairman), Board Member of St. Peter's Elementary School, Trustee North Ward First Aid Squad, Knights of Columbus #6042.
He is the Secretary/Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer for Del-Sano Contracting Corporation in Union. From 1980 to 1982, he served as Legislative Aide to Republican Assemblyman Anthony Imperiale.

Tom Yaeger

Thomas R. Yaeger is a life-long resident of Freehold Township, NJ.
Tom is a Veteran, Staff Sergeant - United States Air Force serving from 1975-1979. Tom was a Crew Chief on F 4-C Aircraft with the 58th TFTW. During his tour he crewed aircraft interceptors on the Canadian border and trained new crew chiefs entering the 58th. One year Air Force Reserves at McGuire Air force Base MAC 1979-1980 He learned team work and pride in a job well done. Tom graduated Brookdale Community College.

1987 Tom performed “The Drive for Life”, driving his “Special Interest” car, a 1986 TOJAN, across the country raising funds for The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He is one of the founding members of “The Old Glory Cruisers “Car Club. Tom organized the "Don't Forget the Vet Car Show" for the Freehold Township Day in conjunction with The Veterans Community Alliance .He is employed by Freehold Township Parks and Recreation Department, Freehold, NJ. He resides in Freehold Township with his wife Helena.

A.J. Ammiano has been a resident of Freehold Township since 1996. He is a graduate of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School and Freehold Boro High School. He is a Graduate of New Jersey City University with a degree in National Security/Private Security. A.J. has been a member of the Veterans Community Alliance since 2009 and a volunteer for the organization since 2007.
